The United Kingdom is made up of four individual countries. The main part of the UK consists of England, Wales and Scotland. Northern Ireland is also counted as part of the UK even though it doesn’t share a border with any of these countries.
But what is it about the UK that makes it well worth a visit?
Tourism landscapes
Even people who live in one or other part of the UK are constantly amazed by the difference in landscapes the area has to offer. There are many top destinations such as London and Edinburgh, and in contrast there are also lots of seaside towns and locations loved by many, such as Brighton for example.
But then you have the more rugged wilds of Scotland with the lochs and other similar locations. Moving on from there we have the Cotswolds and the Yorkshire Moors to look at, as well as all the delights that Cornwall and Devon have to offer.
Northern Ireland also has plenty to offer, as does Wales, with varied scenery that attracts millions of visitors each and every year. It is undoubtedly this mix of sights and attractions that makes the UK so memorable for those who visit it.
Something for everyone
You can take plenty of different kinds of holidays in the UK. If you want a trip to the seaside there are plenty of places to do it in. If you love the thrills offered by theme parks there are lots of those as well.
You can also go walking up mountains and hills or along the side of gorgeous lakes if you want a more active holiday that is packed with fresh air. The weather may not always be delightful but the Brits tend to just get on with it whatever the weather might be doing.
City breaks are also possible with cities dotted the length and breadth of the UK. Whether you have a few days to spend somewhere new or you want to take a break of a week or more, there is always somewhere new to explore in one of the four countries which make up the UK.
What kind of UK holiday would you enjoy?
Only you can answer this question. But with so many different attractions and events to visit and enjoy, there is no doubt some people go back to their favourite places over and over again.
Some places are known to be particularly popular, often because of their natural beauty. Many spots in Cornwall are like this, along with Loch Ness and similar spots in Scotland and Wales, with the Snowdonia National Park being a top spot in this country.
Wherever you choose to go for your holidays, there is a lot to be said for coming to the UK – or staying in it, if you already live here! Don’t think of it as staying at home; think of it as exploring a whole new adventure.
